LSWDD AND BLM:  Invite you to be one of the sponsors of the Great Islands Clean Up.  In celebration of Earth Day 2015, the Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District and BLM are teaming up for an island wide spring-cleaning event on April 18th, 2015. NIKYTA PALMISANI WITH LSWDD: nikytap@lopezsolidwaste.org , wants to extend the offer to help Chamber members to reduce their waste costs and improve recycling efforts. She is  available to do consulting for  businesses free of charge, to review their current waste (garbage) bill and help strategize and organize spaces to increase recycling efforts.  This is a free service.  LSWDD is offering this as part of the grant that they are working on for the Department of the Environment with the goal of reducing waste Island wide in both households and businesses.

At 9 a.m. we'll begin registration and by 10 a.m. we'll head out to designated areas. Shifts are from 10 a.m. - noon or 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Team costumes and themes encouraged. 5th Annual Procession of the Species3pm, Lopez Center for Community and the Arts (LCCA), 204 Village Road, Lopez Village,  This is a free, all-ages event, rain or shine, and open to all members of the public. To participate in the Procession, create a costume or display of a creature, any species real or mythical. Or, come to the village and enjoy the show. Arrive at 3pm to check-in, Procession begins shortly after. There are 3 guidelines: no motorized vehicles, no live animals, and no written words. First Annual "Lopez Talks"4:30-6pm, Lopez School - Multi Purpose Room, 86 School Road,  The idea behind LOPEZ Talks is simple: an afternoon or evening of 20 different people each talking for 3-minutes about something they love/hate/do/did/know/care about/obsess over. The organizers are looking for the personal, witty, educational, inspiring - but above all, interesting.
