Concert - The Westerlies (brass Quartet)7pm, Port Stanley School House, 2970 Port Stanley Road,  The Westerlies are a brass quartet (two trumpets, two trombones) of four young men who met as high school musicians in Seattle (three are from Garfield, the band which has performed on Lopez each October since 2008) and one is from Roosevelt High. All four now live in New York and are recent graduates of Juilliard School of Music or Manhattan School of Music. The concert is free but with a suggested donation of $10 for those able to contribute. All proceeds benefit the Lopez Island Historical Society. Lopez History Afloat 312-4pm, Spencer's Landing, Spencer's Landing Rd., Lopez Island,  Lopez historians will join Captain Monte Hughes to narrate a beautiful trip around Lopez Island on the 100ft. Mystic Sea. We'll leave Spencer's Landing Marina at noon, planning to return at 4:00. Tickets are $120 each, and include hearty snacks and refreshments. Solar Home Tour1pm, Lopez Center for Community and the Arts (LCCA), 204 Village Road, Lopez Village,  Join us for a guided tour of 3 homes with grid-connected solar electric systems. This tour is in connection to The Lopez Energy Fair sponsored by the San Juan Conservation District and OPALCO and will provide participants with an opportunity to talk to homeowners about their investment in solar and how it has helped them to reduce their carbon footprint. Terry Marshall will speak about her exhibit on the walls "Learning to Fly" referencing her masterfully crafted birds and how she thought about making them. Lopez Island Old Fashioned Parade11am-12:30pm, Starts between the Galley and Lopez Islander Resort. Ends at Lopez Village, This year's theme is: "Lopez Island – We're All Here Because We Are Not All There". Come join us either in the parade or to watch along Fisherman Bay Road, winding through the Village on Lopez Road ending at Week's Road and Fisherman Bay Road. Registration begins at 9 am between the Galley Restaurant and the Islander Resort on Fisherman Bay Road. If you want to be in the parade all you have to do is just show up at 9am. Adventure Travel Stories with Award-winning Author Pam Houston7-9pm, Woodmen Hall, 4102 Fisherman Bay Road,  The Friends of the Lopez Library and the Lopez Island Library welcome author Pam Houston. Ms. Houston is the author of two collections of linked short stories, "Cowboys Are My Weakness" (W. W. Norton), and "Waltzing the Cat" (W. W. Norton). Pam Houston is Professor of English at UC Davis, directs the literary nonprofit Writing by Writers, teaches in the Pacific University low residency MFA program and at writers' conferences around the world.
