2013 Brief Description
The Lopez Island Chamber of Commerce is hosting the tenth annual Tour De Lopez on Saturday April 27, 2013.
This popular bike ride is a non-competitive road tour with approximately 5, 10, 18 & 31 mile routes through the scenic
landscape of Lopez on our rural roads. Many of you have been a part of this fun family-friendly event for several years
now – we recognize many of the same names each year! Please remember to share the road with cars and follow all
safe bicycling rules. We have designed the route to keep you off the main roads and post the route so local vehicles
can avoid the areas but the roads are not closed to traffic. We encourage participants to consider making this a
weekend getaway – it's a great opportunity to see what Lopez has to offer.
Parking in Anacortes at the ferry terminal is FREE to TDL participants from Thursday thru Sunday in the upper parking lot only. You will need to display a parking pass on
your dashboard that will be mailed to you 10 days before the event. If you do
not receive this, please contact the Chamber office and one will be sent. See Traveling Tips for more details. You can
also check basic ferry information on the ferry website at www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries.
Registration opens Feb. 1st and is available by mail with the Chamber of Commerce office (360-468-4664). We limit
the number of riders to 900 - this has been a sell-out event for the past several years. so please register early!
Registration fees are $45 adults, $25 children under 12, $115 family rate for 4 (2 adults + 2 kids), lunch only is $15. All
registration includes lunch and snacks along the route. 2013 T-shirts and posters designed by Lopez artist Christa
Malay will be available for sale . We will also have a special 10 year anniversary poster available with a collection of
past posters.
There will be 2 Check-In/Start locations for you – ODLIN PARK (starting at 8:30am) for those arriving Saturday
morning on the ferry and LOPEZ VILLAGE PARK (starting at 8:30am) for those already on the Island. The Village location
will allow you to come to the Village early Saturday, enjoy coffee, treats or breakfast, park your car, go on the ride and
end back in the Village. Check-in is required to receive your lunch/snacks pass as well as a route map and details
about the days ride and activities. The tour routes are marked with our "unique" recycled bikes and include marked
designated rest stops with snacks, bulk water (please bring your own water bottles), medical assistance and sani-cans
available.
Your ride will conclude in the Village at Lopez Community Center grounds with a BBQ lunch presented by the
Galley Restaurant from 12n-3pm for bicyclists as well as local residents. There will be 2 protein options, a vegetarian
option, 3 salads, fresh fruit & of course cookies! A Beer Garden will also be available sponsored by the Lopez
Community Center. The outdoor pavilion on the Center grounds will make a great stage for the band that will entertain
you during lunch.
Our Village has changed in the past few years - we have old business's in new locations and new business's in old
locations - some have closed and new ones have opened. Please be sure to explore the Village.
